In Lamentatione Jubilatio Dei
Gotteslob und Klage stehen sich auf dieser CD mit den aus der kath. Liturgie stammenden Lamentationes und dem protestantischen geistlichen Lied gegenüber. Drei eindrucksvolle Lamentationes Jeremiae (lateinische Klagelieder) durchziehen das Programm, komponiert vom sächsischen Komponisten Johann Rosenmüller und von Jan Dismas Zelenka, der ab 1710 am Königshof in Dresden diente.
Während das sächsische Herrscherhaus aus politischen Gründen der röm.-kath. Kirche angehörte, waren die Untertanen in Stadt und Land eher den Lehren Luthers verbunden, der der deutschen Sprache im Gottesdienst einen großen Platz einräumte. Dadurch konnte das geistliche Lied als Gemeindegesang bzw. in der kunstvolleren Gestalt des generalbassbegleiteten Sololiedes zu besonderer Blüte gelangen. Von Sachsen und J. S. Bach aus führt uns das Programm nach Norddeutschland zu den verinnerlichten Liedern Georg Böhms. Siegfried Pank und H. Chr. Becker-Foss tragen die empfindsame Interpretation des Bassisten Gotthold Schwarz nicht nur, sondern lassen zusätzlich in ausgewählten Instrumentalwerken dieser Zeit ihre Soloinstrumente in vollem Klang erblühen.

With Lamentationes from the Roman Catholic liturgy and Protestant sacred songs, praise of God and laments are juxtaposed on the CD “In Lamentatione Jubilatio Dei”. The program of this CD is informed by three impressive Lamentationes Jeremiae (Latin lamentations) that were composed by the Saxon composer Johann Rosenmüller and by Jan Dismas Zelenka, who served at the royal court in Dresden starting in 1710.
Whereas the Saxon royal family belonged to the Roman Catholic church for political reasons, their subjects in the cities and countryside were more likely to be adherents of Luther’s teachings, which granted the German language an important part in the church service. The sacred song was thus able to attain an exceptional blossoming as congregational song or in the more artistic form of the thorough-bass solo song. From Saxony and J. S. Bach the program leads us to northern Germany to the introspective songs of Georg Böhm. Siegfried Pank and Hans Christoph Becker-Foss not only support the sensitive interpretations of bass Gotthold Schwarz, but also let their solo instruments blossom into full sonority in selected instrumental works of this period.
